How much weight can a drawer with these guides support?
One set of these drawer slides can support 80 kg. This applies in both retracted and extended position and if the weight is evenly distributed along the length. If the weight will only be placed deep inside the drawer, these slides can support around 90kg. The maximum point load at the front of the drawer is near 60kg. In your weight calculation, don’t forget to include the drawer’s own weight. If necessary, place baffles in the drawer to ensure that heavy contents cannot slide forward. This will benefit the drawer guides.
Horizontal or vertical deployment of drawer slides?
The loads stated above apply if you use the drawer slides vertically (standard), i.e. mounted against side walls. You can also mount the drawer slides horizontally (flat) under the drawer. However, this has major disadvantages for the maximum load and deflection. The maximum load to be carried decreases by 60% and the front of the drawer will bend a few centimetres when extended instead of millimetres.
What is a soft-close drawer guide?
Integrated in a soft-close drawer guide is a system that makes the last 60 mm of the push-in cushioned and automatic. As a result, the drawer always closes completely and no bang is heard when the drawer is slammed shut hard. Furthermore, the system prevents the drawer from falling open unintentionally. For this 80kg version, you have to apply a fair amount of force to open the drawer. Ideal for applications in motor homes or in the field of commercial vehicle fittings!
Attach drawer slides to floor or ceiling?
This set of 80kg drawer slides can be mounted at a 90° angle to the floor or ceiling using our mounting brackets. These are not yet, but available soon!
The brackets are designed in such a way that you have the choice of having the lip protrude under the drawer, or to the side of the drawer. The fasteners are compact, so there is no wire end protruding from the outside. It even allows you to attach two drawer slides on either side of one bracket. Ideal for several soft-close drawers side by side in a camper van or commercial vehicle, for example!
What does 3-piece extendable mean?
There are 2-piece and 3-piece drawer slides. The difference lies in the degree of extendibility of the runners. Drawers fitted with 2-piece drawer runners are partially extendable, while drawers fitted with 3-piece drawer runners can be pushed completely outside the casing. Full extension is therefore possible. This makes it easy to reach things even at the back of the drawer. Our range includes only the most user-friendly variant; the 3-piece drawer runners.
Difference between roller guide and ball guide?
A roller guide is a guide with rollers (wheels) that roll back and forth in a guide rail. A ball guide moves by means of many small balls in a so-called ball cage (ball bearings). As a result, a ball guide always ensures a tight, smooth, noiseless and precise movement. Unlike roller guides, ball guides can also absorb horizontal loads (from the side). The balls fix the drawer from all sides, preventing it from bouncing up and down in a camper, for example. Because BRASOM considers quality of paramount importance, our range includes only premium ball bearing slides.
