Description

Wat is een kogelomloopgeleiding?

A ball screw guide is a type of linear profile guide where a carriage moves smoothly along a rail using balls for motion. This movement is extremely precise and free from play. In comparison to traditional sliding guides, the friction is 50 times smaller. Due to the forced guidance of the carriage on the rail in a profile rail guide, this construction can handle forces from multiple directions, making it suitable for both vertical and horizontal applications. This guide can even be used upside down.

BRASOM ball screw guide

Each rail comes standard with one carriage already attached. Never slide a carriage off a rail without caution as the balls may fall out, and it can be challenging to reinsert them properly. If it’s necessary to remove the carriage, you can place a second rail lengthwise against the rail with the carriage and carefully slide the carriage from one rail to the other. Alternatively, you can use a plastic accessory for this purpose. Every individual carriage that can be ordered separately comes with this accessory. Carriages can be slid from rail to accessory and vice versa. Unfortunately, we do not offer the accessories separately.

Note! We only accept returns for unopened, airtight packages. The components are lubricated, which makes them susceptible to dirt once the package is opened. Additionally, we cannot verify the condition of the components, including potential missing balls, if the package has been opened.

Our ball screw guides feature four rows of balls positioned relative to the rail so that the combination can handle forces and moments from all sides. The magnitudes of these forces and moments are schematically depicted in the last image. We’ve differentiated between a single carriage and two carriages placed next to each other on the rail. All relevant dimensions are outlined.

Our carriages come with a flange, which provides them with long threaded holes and a large bearing area. Moreover, each carriage is equipped with seals (gaskets) that slide over the rail and prevent internal contamination. Additionally, each carriage has a grease nipple. The carriages are delivered lubricated and typically require minimal to no maintenance. Take care not to damage the seals. Avoid using them as end stops during movement.

Mounting

Installing a ball screw guide

Mounting a ball screw guide requires a high level of precision and careful attention. Even a slight curvature in the rail, such as when clamped against a bent surface, can cause the carriages to malfunction or move with resistance. This can lead to quicker wear and tear and render them incapable of handling the recommended forces and moments.

If you opt for installing two rails side by side, the alignment becomes even more critical. For an optimally functioning system, the spacing between the rails should not deviate more than 0.01mm across the entire length and in all directions. Twisting between the rails is also unacceptable.

Therefore, it's advisable to place the rail(s) on a single-piece milled surface. Ensure that the surface is perfectly straight. Use slotted holes to prevent lateral stress. If you are using two rails, we recommend not securing the carriage(s) of the less burdened rail. Allow the weight to rest solely on that carriage(s).

Best of luck with your installation!
